Another successful year for "Cocoa at the Curb" at RMS. The weather was comfortable and so many smiling faces this morning (except for the Grinch.) Congratulations to Yeretzi Brizuela. Yeretzi finished in 2nd place in the area in the VFW sponsored Patriot's Pen Contest. It is a youth essay contest in which students express their views on the selected patriotic theme. This year’s theme was “How are you inspired by America”? We will share the theme for next year in the fall. Felicitaciones a Yeretzi Brizuela. Yeretzi terminó en segundo lugar en el área en el concurso Patriot 's Pen Contest patrocinado por VFW. Se trata de un concurso de ensayo juvenil en el que los estudiantes expresan sus opiniones sobre el tema patriótico seleccionado. El tema de este año fue “¿Cómo te inspira Estados Unidos”? Compartiremos el tema para el próximo año en otoño.

RMS band and choir students visited the elementary buildings to provide them with some holiday cheer this week! Students performed multiple holiday pieces for the younger classes to enjoy. We hope our younger groups will feel encouraged and motivated to continue to explore their opportunities in our band and choir program at RMS in the future. Happy Holidays!

Parents, we just want to offer a little token of gratitude for allowing us the opportunity to get to know and educate your child. We know middle school is a unique age and everyday is a new day! Here is a chance for us to thank you. What is it? If you are dropping your child off the morning of 12/22 we will be offering you a cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane if you would like. We just want to help start your day right and say thank you for bringing your child to us. The hot cocoa will be on the East side (staff lot) of the building toward the back. We will have some signs and cones out and we will work as fast as we can, we just ask for your patience. Padres, sólo queremos ofrecerles una pequeña muestra de gratitud por permitirnos la oportunidad de conocer y educar a su hijo. ¡Sabemos que la escuela secundaria es una edad única y cada día es un nuevo día! Aquí tenemos la oportunidad de agradecerle. ¿Qué es? Si va a dejar a su hijo la mañana del 22/12, le ofreceremos una taza de chocolate caliente y un bastón de caramelo si lo desea. Solo queremos ayudarlo a comenzar bien el día y agradecerle por traernos a su hijo. El chocolate caliente estará en el lado este (lote del personal) del edificio hacia la parte trasera. Tendremos algunas señales y conos y trabajaremos lo más rápido que podamos, solo les pedimos paciencia ya que es nuestro primer intento.

Our 8th grade reading buddies were in action again at Lincoln Elementary School - assisting our younger students with various fun activities! Nuestros compañeros de lectura de octavo grado estuvieron en acción nuevamente en la Escuela Primaria Lincoln, ¡ayudando a nuestros estudiantes más jóvenes con varias actividades divertidas!

D231 Familias, ¡Gracias por otra exitosa recaudación de fondos de dulces de Fannie May! El distrito vendió un total de 4,047 cajas de dulces, lo que generó una ganancia de $24,282.00 para nuestro PTO. Apreciamos su continuo apoyo a nuestro distrito. Estos fondos se utilizarán para beneficiar a nuestros estudiantes y personal. La entrega de dulces de Fannie May está programada para mañana, jueves 7 de diciembre. Los pedidos estarán listos para ser recogidos el jueves en cada escuela de 2:00 a 3:30 p.m. Si los pedidos no se recogen el jueves, los padres deben llamar a la oficina de la escuela de su hijo antes de recoger su pedido durante el horario escolar del viernes y hasta la próxima semana. Los pedidos especiales familiares (solo pedidos para hermanos de 30 o más cajas) estarán disponibles para recoger en la Escuela Lincoln. D231 Families, Thank you for another successful Fannie May candy fundraiser! The district sold a total of 4,047 boxes of candy, which raised a profit of $24,282.00 for our PTO. We appreciate your continued support for our district. These funds will be used to benefit our students and staff. Fannie May candy delivery is scheduled for tomorrow - Thursday, December 7th. Orders will be ready for pick up on Thursday at each school from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. If orders are not picked up on Thursday, parents must call your child’s school office prior to picking up your order during school hours on Friday and into next week. Family special orders (only sibling orders of 30 or more boxes) will be available for pick up at Lincoln School. If siblings ordered fewer than 30 boxes together, orders will be at each child’s school. The limo and pizza lunch reward will be in the spring. Please see the note below for additional delivery instructions and contact me with any questions. The next district PTO meeting will be on Monday, December 11th at 6:00 pm at Tilton School.
