High-speed internet is essential to daily life. So many homes don’t have a connection or it’s not fast or reliable enough to get their tasks done. R1 is working on a service map and plan to expand coverage and programs for more equitable internet connection in the county. Please let us know what your needs and gaps are by taking the survey, linked below. Even if you don’t have service, we want to hear from you, too!

~ RTHS Registration Information ~

The critical thinking program at Rochelle Township High School is designed to identify students who go above and beyond the scope of their daily expectations by thinking outside the box to generate solutions to issues in our school and community. They are nominated for their ability to identify problems, research solutions, and develop positive outcomes. This program is supported by the Rochelle Rotary and the RTHS class of 1961.
Congratulations to Yana Bartkiv for earning the 3rd Quarter Critical Thinker award at RTHS! Originally from Rohayn, Ukraine, Yana moved to Rochelle at the age of 15. Since attending RTHS, she has actively participated in soccer, student council, and the art club. Her teachers describe her as a dedicated student with a warm, outgoing personality. Always sporting a smile, they are consistently impressed by her strong work ethic and determination. Yana is already multilingual and is doing an exceptional job learning Spanish. To highlight how remarkable this is, Yana is mastering a new language while learning it in another language, which uses an entirely different writing system from her native tongue. She continuously asks insightful questions, strives for excellence, and works tirelessly to achieve it. Yana has plans to pursue a career in nursing or another medical field. She looks up to her older siblings as role models, as they inspire her to do her best and offer unwavering support. In honor of her achievement, the critical thinking program will make a donation to the Help Heroes of Ukraine on her behalf.

Our 4th quarter RTHS Critical Thinker award goes to sophomore, Danny Garcia. Danny plans to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering after he graduates from RTHS. Danny's hard work and dedication in both academics and extracurricular activities, such as his involvement in soccer, set him apart. Danny’s teachers commented that he is one of the highest achieving students and is impressed by his performance in Honors Chemistry this year. His leadership skills during lab activities and the positive attitude he brings to class show that he is not just focused on his own success but also on helping others excel. He understands the material and makes connections that others might miss. Danny is a "get-down-to business" type of guy. He puts his head down and gets work done. His thoughtful analysis of his work shows deep thinking and consideration.
Danny looks up to his dad as his role model, admiring the hard work he has put in to provide for their family. Danny chose to make a donation to St. Jude on his behalf.

Rochelle Township High School is pleased to announce that senior Julissa Torres has been named the 2024-2025 Critical Thinker of the Year. Julissa has been involved in Cultural Reform Alliance, Student Council and band throughout her 4 years at RTHS. Along with her extracurricular school activities, she also started and manages her own small business. Julissa’s teachers describe her as inquisitive, thoughtful, and reflective, and say that she quietly does superior work. Her intellect in understanding difficult concepts, as well as her humility in not boasting her abilities, is something that they admire.
Julissa is a model of intellectual integrity, quiet excellence, and academic maturity. We congratulate her on this well-earned recognition and look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish in the years to come. As part of this recognition, Julissa received a $500 scholarship to use toward her future endeavors.
RTHS proudly congratulates all of our Critical Thinking Award recipients for their outstanding effort and exceptional critical thinking skills, both in the classroom and within our community.
