Rochelle Middle School Reading Buddies Program 8th-grade students mentor younger students in their classrooms, building connections and serving as positive role models.

Rochelle Middle School 8th Grade Reading Buddies Program The Reading Buddies program has kicked off again this year with a group of 8th-grade students. This initiative gives them the opportunity to visit Lincoln School and engage in classroom activities with younger students.

The next district PTO meeting will be December 2nd 6:00 at Tilton School. All are welcome to attend. La próxima reunión del PTO del distrito será el 2 de diciembre a las 6:00 en la escuela Tilton. Todos son bienvenidos a asistir.

Accelerated Reader is a helpful tool that encourages students to read more often and build their reading skills. By reading regularly, students can improve their vocabulary, reading speed, and understanding, which helps them do better in school. At Rochelle Middle School, students who achieve 80% or higher on their AR quizzes are entered into the monthly drawing for a $10 gift card. Thank you to our PTO for funding our gift cards each month and congratulations to our monthly drawing winners from the month of October! Congratulations to this week's Wills Chiropractic School Staff Super Star Ms. Prestegaard! Nominated by: Arabella Marruffo Here's what Arabella had to say about Ms. Prestegaard: "She works really hard to make every lesson enjoyable and fun. She gives us fun labs and projects, and makes slideshows every day for us. She also takes pictures at school events and sends them to us, so she is very involved for us outside of school too. She is always kind to me even though I am not in 7th grade anymore. I appreciate having someone like her to talk to when I'm having a bad day."

He emphasized the importance of choosing the right friends—ladder friends who build you up, rather than shovel friends who support poor decisions. Landon highlighted how choices like vaping or spending time with the wrong crowd can significantly shape one's path. Rochelle Middle School is Awesome! No Bones About It! Awesome teamwork with our Hub students and staff in making this years hay bale.

The increasing use of screens can impact middle schoolers' attention spans and cognitive development, often leading to challenges with focus and critical thinking. To foster a love for reading and counterbalance screen time, we encourage students to participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. Through AR, students take quizzes after finishing a book, and those who achieve 80% or higher earn raffle tickets. At the end of each month, three names are picked from each grade level for exciting prizes! Encourage your child to read after school and during downtime to boost their literacy skills and academic success. Here are our winners for the month of September!! ---------------------------------------------------------------- El uso cada vez mayor de pantallas puede afectar la capacidad de atención y el desarrollo cognitivo de los estudiantes de secundaria, lo que a menudo genera desafíos con la concentración y el pensamiento crítico. Rochelle Middle School will be celebrating Unity week October 15th-18th! Unity week is where we celebrate and promote kindess, acceptance and inclusion within our school. This helps our effort in our month long Advisory lessons on antibullying, diversity, promoting kindness and empathy to create a safe and supportive school environment.
