Each year Student Council nominates an individual from the school or community who has shown exceptional HUB pride and dedication to our school, students, and community. This year, we are proud to announce that Mrs. Ann Marie Jinkins will be our 2024 Homecoming Grand Marshall. Mrs. Jinkins started working at RTHS in 1992. She taught Spanish I and then moved to the English Department for 11 years. She is currently working as our librarian. Mrs. Jinkins is currently running Fiction Addiction, Gacme Club, Hubs Read Podcast, and the Lego Club at RTHS. She mentioned that she loves how our school has something for everyone. She enjoys how the HUB community gets excited for every club and sport. Mrs. Jinkins is proud of the multiple clubs she has started, and the many grants she has written to get money for the library and clubs. She is incredibly proud of all library monitors and the friendships she has built with colleagues. Mrs. Jinkins is retiring after this year. When asked what her future plans are, she said that she plans to continue working as a librarian but at a college or public library. She also wants to get back into quilting. A message she wants to share with future generations is to be kind to classmates because you’re all in the same boat together. The 4 years can go by slowly yet quickly, so why waste it with negativity? The last words of wisdom Mrs. Jinkins wants to share with RTHS students is that you don’t have to love reading, but someday you are going to need it. Congratulations Mrs. Jinkins! Thank you for everything you have done for RTHS!

Press Release: 2024-2025 Voice of Democracy The Floyd J. Tilton Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #3878 announces the start of the 2024-2025 Voice of Democracy competition. Since 1947, the Voice of Democracy has been the VFW’s premier scholarship program. Each year, nearly 27,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. This year’s theme is: “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?” Why Should I Enter? Prizes and scholarships can be awarded at the post, district, state and national level. Department (state) winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington DC to tour the city, be honored by the VFW and its Auxiliary, and receive their portion of $171,000 in national awards, with the top scholarship being $35,000.
