The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. The scholarship provides $2,000 to help pay for essential items to attend college and up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Free workshops, Free Schwab Brokerage Accounts, and Free Study Abroad provide recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in the school curriculum. Up to 1,200 new U.S. Hagan Scholarships can be awarded for the 2026-2027 academic year. Check out the link for more info and the application. Application is due 12/1/25.

The REC Center in Rochelle is hosting a FREE Life Lessons 101 session featuring an RTHS Guidance Counselor on Tuesday, October 21st at 5:30. This session will provide tips for applying for a job, writing a resume and acing an interview. No need to to sign up, just stop in to learn helpful hints for your next job search.




Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, they placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.3 million students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Students planning to attend Kishwaukee College or any college in Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027 should submit the FAFSA early. Some financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so early submission maximizes funding opportunities.
