RTHS would like to congratulate sophomore Taylor Rogers for receiving the Rochelle Rotary Service Above Self Award for December. Taylor has already recorded 399 Silver Service community volunteer hours at RTHS! She has been a Hope Chest volunteer, worked concessions at the RTHS Sectional Speech meet, participated in Make a Difference Day, helped at the 2 Ton Holiday Food Drive Box distribution, and has spent many hours as a Library Assistant at the Rochelle Public Library. Taylor is also a member of the RTHS Student Council and was the Cross Country manager this fall. Her teachers fully endorse her for this honor saying she is, “highly motivated, responsible and focused. She strives to be successful academically and pushes herself to be her best.” Keep up the great work Taylor! We can’t wait to see what the rest of your high school years, and beyond, have in store for you. Taylor received a full scholarship to participate in RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, held in Oregon in May. Although Lucas Smardo made it to ILMEA All-State last year, he decided to one up himself yet again. This year Lucas qualified for ILMEA All State Honors for both Concert Choir AND Vocal Jazz. He has chosen to participate in the ILMEA All-State Honors Vocal Jazz Ensemble, which is comprised of the top 8-11 singers in the state! He will be going to Peoria in January for the festival. Please help us in congratulating Lucas Smardo!

Packed house tonight for the combined holiday concert!

Fiction Addiction visited Rochelle Book Hub today. Owner and RTHS grad Jackie Detig Mlejnek is a former Fiction Addiction member herself! Members spent gift cards that they earned by participating at Fiction Addiction events this semester.
Thank you to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for sponsoring Fiction addiction this year, and to Jackie for her hospitality. This is the beginning of a happy partnership, with more collaborations to come in 2025!
